Iga Świątek to leave Wimbledon? The Pole made it clear

Iga Świątek ended her participation in the WTA 1000 tournament in Madrid in the semifinals. The second-seeded Pole lost 1:6, 1:6 to Coco Gauff . It was the most painful defeat for our tennis player in several years - she lost 10 games in a row.
Will Iga Świątek leave Wimbledon? After the end of the competition in the capital of Spain, there were speculations that the Pole might take a break from the competition on the court. "I definitely want to take a few days off tennis, so that the courts are not even close. Especially since I didn't have that much free time after Stuttgart. The final decision is up to the coaches," the player said after the semifinal defeat.
Sebastian Parfjanowicz suggested in Przegląd Sportowy that Iga Świątek may even consider withdrawing from Wimbledon and using this time to regenerate in order to return with renewed strength to competing on hard courts, including during the US Open.
Iga Świątek on participating in WimbledonIga Świątek responded to media reports during a press conference before the WTA 1000 tournament in Rome. One of the journalists decided to ask the Pole about her participation in Wimbledon. "I don't understand it. In the media, especially Polish media, there are many theories about me that are not true. I think you like to write articles that simply attract people's attention. I understand that this is part of your job," the 23-year-old emphasized.
The tennis player assured that she has no intention of giving up participation in the Grand Slam tournament in London. "There are no plans to miss Wimbledon. I would like to learn to play better on grass and every year is another opportunity to do so," she said. "I will definitely play in Wimbledon, unless I get injured before the tournament," she added.
However, before the Pole appears on the courts in London, she will have to compete in the WTA 1000 tournament in Rome , which will be played from May 6 to 18. In the first round, Iga Świątek has a bye due to seeding. Then she will face the winner of the Elina Awanesian-Elisabetta Cocciaretto match.
