Iga Świątek is climbing the tournament ladder in Cincinnati . The Pole defeated Anastazja Potapova (6:1, 6:4) and was scheduled to face Marta Kostiuk in the next round. However, the match did not take place due to the Ukrainian's health problems.
"I gave everything I had to be ready to play in Cincinnati. Thanks to the help of my amazing team, I was able to get on the court and finish yesterday's match," Kostiuk wrote on social media, referring to the earlier stage of the tournament. " I played through the pain, and that meant a lot to me , but I have to listen to my body. I'll focus on getting healthy, getting stronger, and coming back fully prepared to play. Thank you, Cincinnati. See you soon, New York," she added in the Instagram post.
