On September 9, Minister of Health Jolanta Sobierańska-Grenda presented the nominations to the new deputy ministers: Katarzyna Kęcka, Master of Science in Nursing, an assistant at the Department of Primary Health Care at the Pomeranian Medical University in Szczecin, and Dr. Tomasz Maciejewski, former director of the Institute of Mother and Child.
Katarzyna Kacperczyk will remain in office, tasked with finalizing the National Recovery Plan. Unofficial reports suggest she will also take over Marek Kos's drug policy.
Katarzyna Kacperczyk is a long-time public servant with experience in international cooperation and supporting economic and investment cooperation. She has worked at the Ministry of Health since 2024.
Her main task was to implement health-related assumptions during the Polish Presidency of the EU Council in the first half of 2025. She also actively participated in the negotiations of the EU pharmaceutical package, along with the Department of Drug Policy and Pharmaceuticals.
Important discussions are still underway at the European level, including the aforementioned pharma package and the Critical Medicines Act. Her diplomatic experience could prove to be very helpful.
An official with experience in diplomacyA graduate of the University of Warsaw, the Institute of International Relations, and the prestigious Columbia University in New York (economics and management). She also studied at the European Institute (law section) at Saarland University in Germany and, as part of the European Studies Program, at the Warsaw School of Economics.
For many years she held high-ranking official and diplomatic positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including director of the Department of Economic Cooperation and undersecretary of state (2013-2016) responsible for supporting the interests of the Polish economy and Polish enterprises.
From 2005 to 2008, she served as a diplomat at the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Poland to the United Nations in New York, where she was responsible, among other things, for the reform of the Organization. She was an advisor to the Chancellery of the Prime Minister. Since 2018, she has been employed at the Warsaw School of Economics, where she was responsible for the development of international cooperation and oversaw and led projects financed from national and EU funds.
She has lectured at the Warsaw School of Economics, the National School of Public Administration, and Lazarski University. From 2013 to 2015, she served on numerous government committees, including the Council of Ministers' Committee for Digitalization, the Export Insurance Policy Committee, and the Committee for Investments of Strategic Importance for the Economy. She is an expert at the Center for International Relations.
