What are the successes of Donald Tusk's government? New government spokesman: Train punctuality
On Friday, at a press conference at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, Prime Minister Donald Tusk (PO) announced that the government will have a spokesman, and this function will be assumed by Adam Szłapka , Minister for European Union Affairs, leader of Nowoczesna, a party co-founding the Civic Coalition.
Donald Tusk's government has a spokesman for the first time in yearsThe appointment of a spokesperson was wanted by politicians from the ruling coalition, including the chairman of Poland 2050 Szymon Hołownia. After June 1, they said that the candidate of the Civic Coalition, deputy head of PO Rafał Trzaskowski, lost in the second round of the presidential election to Karol Nawrocki supported by PiS, among others due to the insufficient information policy of the government, which - according to these claims - was not effectively boasting about its achievements enough. After the current coalition won the parliamentary elections in 2023, Tusk did not see the need to appoint a spokesperson. When Donald Tusk was previously prime minister, in 2014, the government spokesperson was Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska (PO), the current Marshal of the Senate.
The fact that Szłapka is one of the candidates for the position of government spokesman was written by "Rzeczpospolita". In the evening, on TVN24, the politician was asked about the circumstances of his new position. - I think this is a moment when all hands are on deck - he said. - There are many things to convey and you cannot say that everything was fine all this time, because if everything was fine, there would be no such emotions related to the position of spokesman - he added.
Adam Szłapka, government spokesman. "The Prime Minister is asking, it was hard to refuse"The spokesman said that many "communication processes" had to be built. - The Prime Minister was asking, it was hard to refuse - he emphasized. At the same time, he admitted that his new role was a "thankless function", but also a "big and interesting challenge". - We will build such a team that the entire government will now be strongly involved in communication - he announced. - There are many things that we should and can convey - he argued.

Adam Szłapka said that the "communication challenge" for Tusk's cabinet is that the coalition is formed by various groups. - Our problem over the last dozen or so months has been that we have talked too little about important and large projects - he assessed, adding that modesty in public life can be a flaw.
Asked about the achievements of Tusk's government, the spokesman said that there had been a "giant change" in the railways and that trains were running on time more often than three years ago and that there were "many more connections". - If something really works and it didn't work before, it's worth talking about it and we should talk about it - he declared. - There are many things that are worth talking about, that we should talk about, but of course there is a lot to do. I understand that the problem was also that not every citizen always knew what our plan was, what we were doing, how we were doing it and why we were doing it, and that is why this communication is so important - he said.
What will be the "story" of the Tusk government in the coming years? - First of all, we need to free the Polish economy so that it develops faster, because Poland may soon be one of the 20 strongest economies in the world. We really do play a key role in Europe today and we really have strong credentials to develop very dynamically. And this is happening - Szłapka replied on TVN24.
