500 PLN per month for every working person. A new program tailored to the 800+ program.

- The 500 plus social program was one of the springboards for PiS to victory in the 2015 parliamentary elections and take power in Poland.
- Now PiS is looking for a suitable social program that—like the 500+ program—will guarantee the party victory. What will it be?
- Some surprising proposals have emerged. These include a housing voucher worth up to PLN 200,000 and a PLN 500 guaranteed income for anyone working.
The 500+ social program was undoubtedly one of the springboards for PiS's victory in the 2015 parliamentary elections and its seizure of power in Poland. Poles believed they would receive substantial financial support and voted for Law and Justice, and the party fulfilled its promise after taking power.
The Family 500 Plus program was launched on April 1, 2016. Initially, the money was paid for second and subsequent children in a family. A benefit for each child—regardless of income—was introduced on July 1, 2019. On January 1, 2024, the 500 plus benefit increased to 800 plus.
PiS is looking for ideas for a new 500+ program. This time, a guaranteed income of 500 PLN?The Law and Justice party, currently in opposition, dreams of returning to power, so it's looking for a suitable social program that—like the 500+ program—will guarantee the party victory . What will it be?
As Onet recalls, a PiS program convention was held in Katowice a few days ago. During a discussion devoted to the family, Bartosz Marczuk, former deputy minister of labor, proposed a surprising solution: a housing voucher:
- PLN 40,000 upon marriage or birth of the first child;
- PLN 60,000 for the second child,
- up to PLN 100,000 for the third and subsequent children.
- In total, we are talking about up to PLN 200,000 - Onet reminds.
That's not all. The idea of introducing a 500 PLN guaranteed income for everyone who works has also been floated. Are these ideas realistic? The hosts of "State of Emergency" on Onet calculated that these programs would drain the state budget of enormous sums. Dominika Długosz stated that a 500 PLN guaranteed income for 25 million Poles would cost 150 billion PLN annually . In turn, the housing subsidy would burden the state budget by another 166 billion PLN .
If these programs were implemented, they would cost as much as PLN 316 billion annually.
- said Dominika Długosz from "Newsweek".
Jacek Gądek added in "State of Emergency" that such expensive programs have no chance of being pushed through and will likely not be included in the PiS platform in this form. Therefore, a final decision on what social gift PiS intends to use to win the next elections has not yet been made.
On October 15, the Coalition government introduced changes to the 800 plus programIt's worth recalling that just a few years ago, the Civic Platform, now the Civic Coalition, criticized the 500+ program, with its representatives claiming there was no funding. Now, Donald Tusk assures us at every opportunity that the program will be maintained.
Some changes have occurred. As a reminder, starting September 1, 2025, compulsory schooling for children from Ukraine came into effect, along with the 800+ benefit.
