The final end to traffic jams. They are building a key connection to the expressway

- For now, the GDDKiA branch in Szczecin has sent a tender notice to the Official Journal of the European Union. On Tuesday (13 May), the tender documentation will be published on the GDDKiA purchasing platform.
- - The Mierzyn bypass will be a key connection between Szczecin and the city's Western Bypass along the S6. Thanks to this investment, transit from national road no. 10 will also bypass Mierzyn, which is congested during rush hours - said Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Arkadiusz Marchewka.
- The new road will be halfway through Szczecin, where the roads are managed by the city president, hence the need to run it together. It should be ready in 2028.
As emphasized by the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Arkadiusz Marchewka , the joint implementation of this investment by GDDKiA and the city of Szczecin is a model example of cooperation between the government and local government in infrastructure investments.
Half of the new road will run within the area of Szczecin, where the roads are managed by the city president, hence the need to run it jointly.
- In 2022, we signed an agreement on preparatory works. A construction project was prepared based on it. The documentation for the road was ready last year, which allowed us to start the procedure for obtaining a decision on the permit for the implementation of a road investment (ZRID). At the beginning of this year, we signed an agreement with the city of Szczecin covering the construction works stage. Each party will bear the costs of the works on its own territory - explained the GDDKiA branch in Szczecin.
There is already a project and a ZRID decision, so the selected contractor will start construction immediatelyIn March this year, the West Pomeranian Voivode issued a ZRID decision for both the GDDKiA and urban sections, which also constituted approval of design solutions and property divisions.
The winner of the tender will immediately start construction work, which can start soon after the contract is signed, which should happen this year. Completion of construction is planned for 2028.
- Currently, DK10, which runs from Szczecin towards the Polish-German border , runs through the densely built-up town of Mierzyn . Traffic jams form on the road every day during rush hours. At the connection of DK10 with ZOS, a Szczecin Zachód junction will be built, which will be one of the main connections to the center of Szczecin - the general directorate pointed out.
She noted that the DK10 road currently running through Mierzyn would not be able to handle the additional traffic, which is why a new route of this road is needed, which will provide proper access to the Szczecin expressway bypass.
This is how the Mierzyn bypass will run. Once through the city area, once through the GDDKiA areaThe beginning of the road from Szczecin will be the intersection at the end of Ku Słońcu Street in the area of the existing shopping center. This is over 200 m in Szczecin. Then the route will run north to the junction of Topolowa and Łukasińskiego Streets, i.e. a section of approx. 1.2 km, for which GDDKiA will be responsible.
- Later, the route will re-enter Szczecin and will run westwards, partly passing through the area of allotment gardens. After approximately 2.1 km, the road will leave the city. Then, after approximately 1.3 km, the new DK10 will reach the Szczecin Zachód (Dołuje) junction. The GDDKiA is responsible for this last section - the Szczecin branch of the directorate detailed.
