Polish companies with priority in building a nuclear power plant? The industry will fight for it

- The success of the Polish nuclear program largely depends on how effectively it will be possible to involve domestic companies in the process of designing and building power plants - emphasizes Tomasz Stępień , who by decision of the general meeting was appointed president of the management board of PZPB-Atom ( Damian Kaźmierczak and Jan Styliński - vice president and president of the Polish Association of Construction Employers, respectively - became vice presidents).

- The construction of a nuclear power plant is a project of generational significance . Today, we are shaping not only the energy future of Poland, but also the competence and industrial landscape of the entire economy for decades. The PZPB-Atom Association was established to transform this opportunity into specific actions and lasting effects - adds Stępień, who in 2021-2023 served first as chairman of the supervisory board and then as president of the management board of Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe (previously in 2015-2022 he held the position of president of the management board of Gaz-System).

Local content is to be a pillar of the construction of the first Polish nuclear power plant

One of the main goals of establishing PZPB-Atom is to start a dialogue with the state administration. The organization is to act as a "substantive advisor" in the field of designing and implementing solutions supporting the construction of the first nuclear power plant in Poland.

As emphasized, the key postulate is to include hard commitments regarding the share of local content in the EPC contract and to develop mechanisms for monitoring their implementation. The organization also intends to diagnose barriers and difficulties standing in the way of broader involvement of Polish companies, proposing specific solutions based on international models.

- The establishment of the PZPB-Atom Association is a milestone towards building a strong implementation base for the first Polish nuclear power plant – says Jan Styliński.

- Our ambition is to guarantee the real participation of Polish companies in this groundbreaking project and to develop mechanisms that will enable them to effectively compete with international entities. We want local content not to be an addition, but a real pillar of this investment - for the good of our economy, as well as the country's energy security - he adds.

Choczewo should become the cornerstone of a strong Polish nuclear industry

The activities of PZPB-Atom are also to focus on the integration of the Polish nuclear power sector and supporting companies in accessing investments. An important element will also be the development of competences of domestic enterprises and the promotion of Polish technologies on foreign markets . The association is also to function as a platform for the exchange of experiences between companies and to organize training, conferences and workshops expanding specialist knowledge and expertise.
