Sales of distribution services to end customers amounted to 5.1 TWh, and sales of electricity and gas fuel to retail customers amounted to 6.2 TWh.
Enea explains that the EBITDA result achieved in the first quarter of 2025 is a result of several important factors (compared to the first quarter of 2024).
In the mining area, the higher EBITDA result is the result of higher revenues from coal sales. Despite the increase in coal sales volume, a lower sales price was achieved. Additionally, the EBITDA result was significantly affected by the payment of compensation for damage resulting from the groundwater flood, which took place in February 2023 in wall 3/VII/385 (one-off event in the amount of PLN 144.85 million).
EBITDA growth in distribution, decline in generationIn the generation area, a lower EBITDA result was achieved . In the segment of system power plants, a decrease in EBITDA was noted, mainly due to a decrease in the margin on electricity trading, with simultaneous higher revenues from the capacity market and balancing capacities.
In the Renewable Energy Segment, a decrease in the EBITDA result was recorded due to a lower margin on the Green Unit at the Połaniec Power Plant (mainly the effect of lower electricity prices, with a simultaneous decrease in the unit costs of biomass).
The heat segment recorded an increase in EBITDA, which was due to an increase in the unit margin (mainly a decrease in unit fuel costs).
In the distribution area, the increase in EBITDA is the result of a higher margin realized on licensed activities.
In the area of turnover, the higher EBITDA result is mainly due to the increase in margins on the retail market. At the same time, a decrease in recognized revenues from compensation was noted.
Enea received a total of PLN 170 million in compensation for the freezing of energy prices.
The Company informs that the above data are estimates and may be subject to change, and the final results will be presented in the periodic report for the first quarter, which is scheduled to be published on May 20, 2025.
