The production was created based on the British series of the same formula, which debuted on the small screen in 2005. It follows the daily adventures of employees of a small-town branch of a paper manufacturing company and their insufferable boss, Michael Scott . The series, which has had 9 seasons, has won, among others, five Emmy Awards and four Writers Guild of America statuettes over the years.
