A marriage in crisis. They want a divorce. They really want it.

In the Zamek Cinema Hall in the Pomeranian Dukes' Castle in Szczecin on Saturday at 5 p.m. and Sunday at 7:30 p.m. we will see the play "Cudowna terapia" by the Piwnica przy Krypcie Theatre based on the text by Daniel Glattauer. Joanna and Valentin went to marriage counseling. They agree on only one thing - that they intend to break up, and that they are a harmonious team only during arguments. The therapist diagnoses them with such an acute state of tension that he reaches for a special method: miracle therapy. The spouses have to imagine that suddenly everything is fine between them. However, the effect is the opposite - the fictional image of happiness only highlights the current emptiness. Both of them become even more bitter. The role-reversal game also does not bring any results, what is more, it becomes the perfect opportunity to present the partner as a monster and mock him.

Joanna and Valentin seem like a truly hopeless case until the therapist runs out of ideas and calls a break… When the session resumes, the psychologist – after a phone call – seems completely shaken. He is unable to continue the therapy, until the surprised spouses finally launch a counterattack. Now it is they who start asking questions…

Daniel Glattauer (born 1960 in Vienna), graduated in pedagogy. Initially, he was an amateur writer, a songwriter and a waiter, later becoming a journalist. He first worked as an editor at "Die Presse", then for twenty years he was a writer for "Der Standard". He has published a dozen or so novels, two of which: "N@pisz do mnie" (Gut gegen Nordwind, 2006) and "Wróć do mnie" (Alle sieben Wellen, 2009) were acclaimed bestsellers and translated into many foreign languages.

Marek Szalsza (born 1967) writer and translator. He lived in Katowice, Gdańsk, Vienna, currently in Sopot. His novel "Schyłek szatrangu" won the Bolesław Fac Literary Competition of the City of Gdańsk and was published by Wydawnictwo w Podwórku (2015). The author also published a short novel in installments entitled "Droga do Trachinki" in the SLOW magazine. Numerous translations of his plays, mainly by Austrian writers, have been and are performed in theaters.
