Today, the advanced level final exams start. These subjects will be the first to be tested

These exams are voluntary and intended for those who want to take them. English is the most popular subject among this year's graduates.

Among this year's high school graduates, 197.9 thousand declared their willingness to take the English exam at an advanced level, and 7.9 thousand at a bilingual level. Additionally, about 940 graduates from previous years will take the exam according to the so-called old formula. Music history, although less popular, attracted 335 this year's graduates.

English exams will begin at 9:00 and will last 150 minutes for the advanced level and 180 minutes for the bilingual level. The music history exam is scheduled for 14:00 and will last 180 minutes. The Central Examination Board will publish the exam papers the same day.

Graduates must take three compulsory written exams at the basic level: Polish, mathematics and a modern foreign language. Additionally, two oral exams are required: Polish and a foreign language. Graduates from classes with a national minority language have additional exams in their native language.

Each high school graduate must take at least one advanced level exam, which is an optional subject. They can take up to five additional advanced level exams. The most frequently chosen subjects are biology, chemistry, physics, geography, history, and others.

This year's graduates are the first cohort to take their final exams according to the requirements set out in the core curriculum, rather than the exam requirements introduced in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic. The current core curriculum has been modified, reducing the content of the curriculum by 20 percent. To pass the final exams, a graduate must obtain at least 30 percent of points in the mandatory exams. The results of the exams at an advanced level are used only for admission to studies.
