The newspaper reminds that micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) benefiting from lower energy prices in the second half of 2024 had until the end of June 2025 to settle last year's support , which provided them with frozen electricity rates.

They were required to provide their energy supplier with information confirming their eligibility for this assistance. For companies that failed to submit this information by the end of June, the energy supplier will be required to adjust their billing for the second half of 2024.

This means that if no information about the aid is provided, the entrepreneur will be obligated to refund the difference between the maximum price of PLN 693/MWh and the price specified in the electricity sales agreement or comprehensive agreement. Statutory interest accrued from the settlement date will be added to this amount, the newspaper explains.

Energy sellers estimate that these could be large amounts, reaching up to PLN 50,000 or more , not including interest.

"Rzeczpospolita" asked the largest electricity suppliers how many companies had complied with their obligation to settle public aid. PGE Obrót, Energa Obrót, Tauron, and Enea responded that ultimately, approximately 90% of their customers eligible for public aid had submitted such documents.

Let us recall that at the end of June, the Sejm adopted amendments to the act, which will result in the mechanism of freezing electricity prices for households in 2025 being extended to the fourth quarter as well.

Currently, household electricity consumers can benefit from a price frozen at PLN 500 per MWh net until September 30.

In turn, by the end of July, so-called ex officio sellers must submit to the President of the Energy Regulatory Office applications with proposed tariffs that would be valid after September 30.
