A tearful girl wandered past the nursery. A tragedy occurred near Wałbrzych.
Thursday afternoon, July 10, in Boguszów-Gorce. Around 12 noon, the officer on duty at the local police station received a distressing call from the director of a local nursery. She reported that a local resident, passing by the facility, had noticed a child wandering alone.
Boguszów-Gorce. A lost and tearful four-year-old girl next to the nursery. The girl, who appeared to be about four years old, was tearful and visibly distraught. She was unable to provide her name or address.
An alert resident of Boguszów-Gorce, concerned about the situation, took the girl to a nearby nursery, thinking she might be one of the children attending the facility. The principal immediately realized the child was not a nursery student and immediately notified the police.
– said Deputy Commissioner Agnieszka Głowacka-Kijek from the Municipal Police Headquarters in Wałbrzych.
The officers quickly arrived on the scene and took care of the girl, trying to calm her down. At the same time, the police officer on duty received another report, concerning a missing four-year-old girl.
After quickly putting the facts together, the reporting person was informed that the child was already under the care of police officers at the nursery. Moments later, the reporting person arrived at the scene—the child's aunt and uncle, in whose care the girl was staying. According to their account, the uncle, while bathing his son, failed to notice the girl leaving the apartment on her own and entering the street. The girl's parents arrived at the scene. Upon seeing her mother, the little girl reacted with immense relief—she hugged her tightly and stopped crying.
– said an officer of the Wałbrzych police.
The services highlighted the exemplary attitude of a city resident who did not remain indifferent to a child wandering alone, and the school principal who immediately called for help.
This incident is the best proof of the importance of civic vigilance and preparedness to respond in similar situations. Above all, however, it serves as a serious warning to all caregivers – children can be incredibly resourceful and unpredictable. Even a brief moment of inattention can lead to a disappearance or other dangerous situations. Especially now, during the summer holidays, let's be vigilant and keep our little ones in sight.
– emphasized Deputy Commissioner Agnieszka Głowacka-Kijek.
