On Tuesday afternoon, August 12th, the emergency services in Świnoujście were rallied to the scene after receiving a dramatic call from a resident. A man walking along the waterfront noticed a fragment of a human body floating in the water.

The incident occurred near Władysława IV Street, in the heart of the city, opposite the Sea Fishing Museum. According to a witness, the gruesome sight attracted attention even before emergency services arrived. "A floating piece of human flesh drifted along the waterfront, and birds were nibbling on it," reports the iswinoujscie.pl website.

The vessels notified of the incident immediately took action. Police officers arrived on the scene and quickly cordoned off the area to secure evidence and prevent access by unauthorized persons. The crew of the vessel "Magda" from the Maritime Office in Szczecin also participated in the operation.

The authorities are investigating the case. Identification is ongoing.

Investigators are working to determine the identity of the deceased and the circumstances of his death. No scenario has been ruled out at this stage.
