The official opening of the championship took place on July 7th, World Volleyball Day. The event was once again hosted by the Commander of the Bieszczady Border Guard Unit in Przemyśl, Brig. Gen. Tomasz Zybiński. In addition to Stanisław Świderski, the opening was also attended by, among others, the Mayor of Przemyśl, Wojciech Bakun.
Teams representing all border guard units in the country have signed up to participate in the championship competition: Podlasie, Bug River, Carpathian, Silesian, Odra River, Maritime, Warmian-Masurian, Vistula River and Bieszczady Border Guard Units.
The championships, in both the men's and women's categories, were held on three courts located right next to the pedestrian and bicycle bridge. The organizers ensured excellent preparation of the playing fields and facilities for the players. Referees from the Podkarpackie Voivodeship Volleyball Association oversaw the competition.
Three days of struggleThe three-day competition – naturally in the spirit of fair play – concluded on July 9th of this year. After the regular season, the podium battles were held. In the women's division, the Podlaski OSG competed against the Karpacki OSG, while in the men's division, the Podlaski OSG and the Nadwiślański OSG competed for the lowest spot.
In the women's category, the Podlasie OSG team took third place, defeating the Małopolska team 2-0. The Podlasie team also won the bronze medal in the men's category, defeating the Nadwiślański OSG team 2-0.
In the women's final, the teams from the Bieszczady Border Guard and the Maritime Border Guard competed, while in the men's final, the teams from the Nadbużański Border Guard and the Warmia-Masuria Border Guard from Kętrzyn competed. After a fierce battle, the Maritime Border Guard from Gdańsk won the gold medals in the women's category, defeating the team from Podkarpacie 2-0. The men's beach volleyball champions were the Warmia-Masuria Border Guard, who defeated the Nadbużański Border Guard 2-0.
The best ones with statuettes and a bearDuring the three-day competition, Brig. Gen. T. Zybiński congratulated all competitors on their results and sportsmanship. He also presented commemorative diplomas, medals, and gifts in the form of a statuette symbolizing the Przemyśl Fortress and a BiOSG bear, which was recently placed in the Przemyśl market square. He emphasized that such competitions and rivalries provide an excellent opportunity for uniformed personnel from various parts of the country to meet outside of their daily duties.
The next places among women were taken by the teams: 4. Carpathian OSG, 5. Warmian-Masurian OSG, 6. Nadbużański OSG, 7. Silesian OSG, 8. Nadwiślański OSG, and among men: 4. Nadwiślański OSG, 5. Bieszczadzki OSG, 6. Morski OSG, 7. Silesian OSG, 8. Karpacki OSG.
The best female player of the championship was Magdalena Fijoł from the Morskie OSG, and the best male player was Adam Pawłowski from the Warmińsko-Mazurskie OSG.
The championships were organised by: the Border Guard Headquarters, the Commander of the Bieszczady Branch of the Border Guard, the Main Board of the NSZZ FSG, the NSZZ FSG SG at BiOSG and the IPA Bieszczady Region.
