If you ever travel with Ryanair, you need to be careful. The airline has introduced a new fine for late arrivals.
Ryanair wants to reduce delays . That's why they have changed the terms of use. If passengers report less than 40 minutes before departure, they risk a fine of 100 euros. This is reported by the French Sudinfo . Ryanair is the only company to introduce such a measure.
The airline introduced this measure on 1 May together with the subscription model Ryanair Prime. This is an annual subscription of 79 euros, which should provide advantages for people who often fly with the company.
Ryanair also wants to do away with paper boarding passes. Travelers will be required to show a digital ticket on their smartphone. Don't have one? You guessed it: you'll have to pay. This costs 55 euros.
Ryanair tickets are often (at first glance) cheap, but there can be quite a few extra costs. So pay close attention to the catches. For example, hand luggage costs between 20 and 60 euros extra, hold luggage between 10 and 60 euros and each extra kilo of luggage is 13 euros. Choosing where you sit can also cost a lot, from 11 to 33 euros. And then there is also a baby surcharge of 25 euros for children younger than 25 euros.
You may soon be flying a Chinese-made plane instead of a Boeing with Ryanair. Last week, Ryanair announced it would no longer purchase planes from the American manufacturer if they become more expensive due to President Donald Trump's import duties .
“If the United States moves forward with this ill-conceived plan and the tariffs materially affect the price of Boeing exports to Europe, we will certainly reconsider our current Boeing orders and the possibility of placing those orders elsewhere,” he wrote in a letter to a U.S. lawmaker, adding that he would consider China’s COMAC but that no talks are underway with that aircraft manufacturer.
O'Leary has previously considered buying Chinese aircraft if the price is attractive enough, prompting Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi to warn Ryanair against doing so due to safety concerns.
