Belgian football club Beerschot says goodbye to coach Kuijt

Belgian football club Beerschot has said goodbye to trainer Dirk Kuijt. The club from Antwerp announced this on its website. The former international of Oranje was relegated from the highest Belgian division with Beerschot last season.
"The club sincerely thanks Dirk Kuijt for his commitment, dedication and positive contribution. His energy and involvement were a source of inspiration within the group of players," Beerschot wrote.
Kuijt (44) has been working at Beerschot since January 2024. In his first year, he led the club to the title in the Challenger Pro League, the second level in Belgium. Last season, the team only managed to win three matches in the regular competition, after which relegation was a fact after the first round of the play-offs.
Beerschot appointed Mohamed Messoudi as Kuijt's successor on Friday. It is the first job as head coach for the 44-year-old former player of the club, who also played for Willem II.
