Why Rihanna and A$AP Rocky Decided to Have a Third Child Now: ‘It’s a Very Special Time’
Rihanna had near back-to-back pregnancies, welcoming her first son, RZA, in May 2022 and their youngest boy, Riot, in August 2023. Now, she is pregnant once more with the couple’s third child. The close timing between pregnancies was planned, a source told People.
“Rihanna has always wanted a big family, so she couldn’t be more excited,” the insider said. “Rihanna and Rocky are thrilled to be growing their family, and they can’t wait to give their boys another sibling. They wanted to have their children close together in age, so that they could grow up together and share a close bond. They feel so blessed and are so grateful for this next chapter in their lives. It’s a very special time.”
With the Met Gala, which Rocky co-chaired, behind them, the pair is “focused on family time,” an insider told People. “Rihanna's a great mom. She loves playing with the kids. He’s such a playful dad too. They were hoping for another baby.”
A source gave Entertainment Tonight similar intel, saying, “Rihanna and A$AP are so excited about baby number three. They have been open about wanting another baby.”
On the red carpet of the Met Gala, where Rihanna revealed her pregnancy news, the singer spoke to Entertainment Tonight about how she is feeling. “I’m good,” she said. “I’m shockingly feeling okay and not too overwhelmed at the moment. I mean at first it was kind of like, ‘Ahhh.’”
She also reassured fans that her pregnancy would not delay her long-awaited ninth album. It would at most affect “maybe a couple videos. But I can sing!”
