Tour de France 2025, stage 3: route, altimetry, favourites and TV times

The altimetry of the third stage of the Tour de France 2025, from Valenciennes to Dunkirk
Bologna sur Mer, 7 July 2025 – After the sparks, a (presumed) truce at the 2025 Tour de France . Stage 3 seems tailor-made for sprinters, wind permitting and provided that the tension in the race is not enough today , as in the Lille section, to upset the bank. Even yesterday, however, there was no shortage of emotions . The victory of Mathieu Van der Poel in the second stage was in the air, given the classic route . The Dutchman from Alpecin prevailed in Boulogne sur Mer, in a regal podium with Tadej Pogacar second and Jonas Vingegaard third, confirming the forces in the field also in view of the general classification. Remco Evenepoel has not lost ground but the 40” left in the first stage weighs and will weigh on the economy of the Grand Boucle. Another Italian in the top ten, this time Simone Velasco ninth, but the big chances will only be in the sprint with Jonathan Milan who will try not to be surprised in the third stage with arrival in Dunkirk. In the meantime, the yellow jersey was worn by Vdp, who snatched it from his teammate Philipsen who won in the sprint in Lille. The best placed big names in the standings are Pogacar second at 4” and Vingegaard third at 6”, but Enric Mas remains in the slipstream at 10” and Ben O'Connor at 41”, while Almeida is further behind at 49” with Skjelmose, Onley, Buitrago, Evenepoel, Gall, Lipowitz and Roglic . The worst placed is Carlos Rodriguez of Ineos, already detached by 1'20”.
PathToday's stage is 178 kilometers long and goes from Valencienne to Dunkirk: a substantially flat fraction apart from a fourth category cote, but watch out for the wind. "The riders and team managers will all become weather experts on the morning of the third stage", writes the Tour de France website. There are no rough patches along practically the entire route and the only GPM will be 30 from the finish with the Mont Cassel of 2.3 kilometers at 3.8% . A springboard to put the group in single file and then, in case of wind, whip up the pace to break up the riders and create the famous fans: it will be necessary to pay attention along the entire final stretch towards Dunkirk. In any case, at the finish line in the French town a sprinter should then prevail.
FavoritesIt would seem to be a stage for sprinters, but as we have already seen in the first fraction, the fans can change the tactical score of the race. While the big names will try to be careful, especially in the first positions, the sprinters' teams will organize themselves. Milan will have to be careful and not suffer fans to play in the sprint with Philipsen , the favorite, Merlier, Bauhaus, Girmay, Meeus, Demare, Groenewegen, Ackermann and Waerenskjold.
TV schedulesThe third stage of the 2025 Tour de France will be held on Monday 7 July, with a start time of 13:25 and an expected arrival in Dunkirk between 17:18 and 17:40, with an estimated average speed of between 42 and 46 km/h. Live on free-to-air Rai Due from 14:45 (the Giro Women is scheduled for 14), with live streaming on Raiplay. Live on a paid basis on Discovery Plus and Dazn.
