The 2025 Giro d'Italia begins today, Friday 9 May . The 108th edition of the Corsa Rosa will start in Durazzo, Albania (for the first time in history), and will end in Rome. The first stage from Durazzo to Tirana is already very challenging and could reserve surprises due to the various high points in the second half of the route. Giro d'Italia 2025, the first stageBut what do you need to know about the first stage of the Giro d'Italia 2025 ? After a flat start, which will be closed by the intermediate sprints of Paper and Elbasan (km 58 and 67), there will be the first Gran Premio della Montagna (Gpm) in Gracen, of the second category and with a summit at 777 meters above sea level (there will be 13 km of uphill, with gradients of up to 11%). A significant difference in altitude, which could immediately give rise to some breakaways. After a long descent, the route will enter Tirana with a double climb to Surrel (third category Gpm, at 454 meters above sea level), to then reach the finish line.

The free-to-air live TV coverage of the 108th edition of the Giro d'Italia will be provided by Rai Sport and Rai 2 (free streaming on Rai Play), while the subscription-based live TV coverage will be available on Eurosport 1.
