Florence, July 17, 2025 - Anyone expecting transfer market information from Stefano Pioli 's press conference was left empty-handed. No names, no certainties: Fiorentina 's new coach made it clear that before making any moves, he wants to carefully evaluate the squad at his disposal. Pioli, however, admitted that the team is 70% ready, implying that some additions are still necessary. Two priorities: an alternative to Dodo on the right flank and a midfielder to place in front of the defense . Not a traditional playmaker, but a more dynamic player, the profile that led to the Bernabé idea. However, this option is currently closed. A new attempt is not out of the question, but there are no concrete developments at the moment. In any case, a significant investment is expected in that area of the pitch, with a figure likely to be between €18 and €20 million. The outlay for the reserve full-back, however, is much more modest: Pioli will monitor Sottil and evaluate whether Fortini can provide reliability in the role. An internal solution hasn't been ruled out. In attack, however, everything revolves around Lucas Beltran . Pioli has spoken positively about the Viking, who will be playing for his contract during the summer retreat. If he convinces, and in the absence of any lucrative offers, he could stay. At that point, there would be no room for Sebastiano Esposito , currently on hold. Cagliari, initially interested, backed out due to financial reasons. Fiorentina, however, won't make a move until a final decision has been made on Beltran. There's also a wait on the transfer front. Pioli's warning was clear: all players will be evaluated until they return from the English tour. And then a line will be drawn around August 10th. A message for everyone. From Sottil to Ikoné, not forgetting a series of redundancies that, at least on paper, are redundant. Then the pitch and training will have the final say. But the other warning from the new Fiorentina coach was equally clear: the squad must be kept small. Or rather, right. Dual roles and nothing more. "I'd rather struggle for a few games and involve the young players than leave ten players out of practice matches." Without any major prospects, players like Infantino, Sabiri, and Nzola remain, with Genoa and Pisa still interested (on loan). Yesterday, Fiorentina said goodbye to Terracciano, who has joined AC Milan, where he will be Maignan's understudy.
