Remigration Summit, double protest confirmed in Milan: spotlight on the antagonistic march

Milan, May 11, 2025 – A double demonstration against the Remigration Summit , the far-right meeting scheduled for next Saturday in an as yet unidentified location in the Varese area. The various souls of the Milanese left confirm the anti-fascist mobilization , despite the Remigration no longer taking place in the Lombard capital, as initially planned.
The first one counter-demonstration, organized by Cgil, Anpi, Arci and Acli and joined by Pd, Avs, M5S and Italia Viva, was moved yesterday – at the request of the Provincial Committee for Order and Security – from Piazza Duomo to Piazza San Babila. Next Saturday, starting at 2:30 pm, the general secretary of Cgil Maurizio Landini , the secretary of Pd Elly Schlein and the spokesperson for Alleanza Verdi Sinistra Nicola Fratoianni are expected. The Milanese secretary of the Chamber of Labor, Luca Stanzione, confirms that "the Milanese demonstration "No space for hatred. United against the Remigration Summit", which today (yesterday, ed. ) was moved from Piazza Duomo to Piazza San Babila, will take place even if the Remigration Summit were to be cancelled. We are in a historic moment in which we must mobilize against the advance of the far right in Europe. The German case, in particular, worries us a lot".
The second demonstration “against Remigration Summit” is scheduled for next Saturday but at 3 pm and from Largo Cairoli. The organizers, who revolve around the antagonistic social centers, talk about an “international antifascist march” and paraphrase Trump’s slogan Make America Great Again in “Make Europe Antifa Again“.
Among the forces of order, there is some concern for the Antifa march, because it seems that militant antagonists from other parts of Italy and Europe will arrive in Milan. There is therefore the risk of tension and clashes during the demonstration.
Mayor Giuseppe Sala , meanwhile, commented on the far-right meeting: “I hope the Remigration Summit is not in Milan. It is a useless and harmful event . It is just slogans”. The mayor also cites a recording of a meeting of the organizers of the neo-fascist demonstration in which they claim that Sala's negative comments have given visibility to the Remigration Summit.
“The topic of immigration is very complex and must be addressed with a constructive spirit – continues the mayor –. I am not in favor of irregular immigration, but I am aware that it is a historical phenomenon and that immigrants are useful in our society ”.
