Pozzolo expelled from Fratelli d'Italia after New Year's Eve shooting, expulsion after revelations to Report on Delmastro's role

Out of the group in the Chamber

Emanuele Pozzolo has been expelled from the parliamentary group of Fratelli d'Italia in the Chamber . This is the latest twist concerning the parliamentarian from Vercelli who was the protagonist of the New Year's Eve incident in 2023 , when during a party organized in the small village of Rosazza (Biella) attended by Pozzolo but also by the Undersecretary of Justice Andrea Delmastro (his sister is the mayor of the city, ed.), a person was injured by a shot fired from the pistol , a mini-revolver North American Arms LR22, owned by Pozzolo.
The deputy had already been suspended as a precaution from the party and investigated for illegal possession of weapons and ammunition, but Fratelli d'Italia had not "dumped" him. The expulsion came, probably not by chance, a few days after the broadcast of the Rai3 program ' Report ' in which Pozzolo implied that his own party had aimed to make him bear the political weight of the New Year's Eve affair. But above all, in the conversation with the journalist of 'Report' Pozzolo says that Andrea Delmastro was present in the room where the incident occurred that evening, a theory that has always been denied by the Undersecretary of Justice but also by other witnesses heard in the investigation.
Pozzolo for the first time recounts a meeting with Undersecretary Delmastro: “There was an indication to accept the withdrawal of the complaint”. Tonight from 8.30pm on #Rai3 👇 pic.twitter.com/feaGEYL3zu

Pozzolo, for his part, has always denied that he was the one who shot and wounded Luca Campana , the partner of the daughter of Pablito Morello , a prison police officer and at the time Delmastro's head escort : according to the former FdI deputy, the shot was fired while Morello was handling his mini-revolver, but it was Pozzolo himself who tested positive to the " stub test ", a test used to find any residue left by a gunshot on a person's body and clothes.
Campana later withdrew the complaint for injury against Pozzolo after an agreement between the parties, but the deputy remains accused of various crimes, including failure to store weapons, dangerous ignitions and explosions, and illegal possession of weapons in a public place.
In an interview with La Stampa, Pozzolo uses polemical tones against his now former party. “The party that I helped found and that has always brought together a beautiful community of people and ideas, risks becoming hostage to some little duce who uses political bullying to deal with issues that deserve different treatment,” is his comment to the Turin daily. “My loyalty seems to have been met with nothing but mockery lately,” Pozzolo adds.
As for his future in Parliament, to date Forza Italia and Noi Moderati have denied negotiations for his possible entry. And Pozzolo, at least for the moment, assures: "I have not considered the problem of going to look for another party in which to do politics".
