Pope Approves New Mass Dedicated to the Protection of Creation

The fruits of the earth, the firmament, the creatures: these are some of the elements that enter the new form for the "Mass for the custody of the creation" which adds to the schemes already adopted in the celebrations "for civil needs". These are prayers and readings, inserted in this new Mass, which respond to the instances suggested by Pope Francis' Laudato si' emerged in these years from Churches around the world. The decree, issued by the Dicastery for Divine Worship, is was approved by Pope Leo XIV who thus confirmed that the environmental protection remains one of the Church's priorities. "At this time it is evident that the work of creation is seriously threatened due to irresponsible use and of the abuse of the goods which God has entrusted to our care", underlines in the decree introducing the new form.
