Fagagna in movement: sport, nature and inclusion against diabetes

Sports, movement and well-being were the focus of the initiative that on Saturday 21 June involved a large audience in the hills of one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. Organized by the Proposta per Fagagna Association, the event, called “With sport in Fagagna, glycemia gains”, offered an afternoon of free physical activity open to all, with the aim of promoting the health benefits of sport, even for those living with diabetes.
There were many participants, coming from Fagagna and the surrounding municipalities, with a cross-age presence: children, young people, adults and elderly people took part in the activities on the program, including yoga, golf, tennis, padel, mountain biking and walking, all led by qualified instructors.
The meeting took place at the Baita degli Alpini, immersed in nature, the starting point for the various locations involved in the initiative, including the Sporting Club Moruzzo and the Villaverde Hotel&Resort.
"Sport is a precious ally for physical and mental health, it helps to combat sedentary lifestyle and excess weight, and improves the quality of life - commented Elena Rosso, nurse at the San Daniele del Friuli Hospital and municipal councilor of Fagagna -. The community's response shows how much sensitivity there is on these issues".
Also present was regional councilor Igor Treleani: "Even people with type 1 diabetes, with the right precautions, can practice sports from an early age. It is essential to promote a message of inclusion: movement, proper nutrition and therapies are tools for well-being for everyone."
