Sales 2025 in Bologna: everyone is hunting for discounts. How the first day went

Bologna, July 5, 2025 – The word sales is everywhere. In every fashion industry business, summer discounts have begun today. Via D'Azeglio , via Farini , via Indipendenza and Galleria Cavour . These are the main areas stormed by Bolognese and tourists since the early hours of the morning. Everyone is hunting for the rock-bottom price . Even though only a few hours have passed since the start of the discounts, the desire to spend is strong. Many, in fact, stop to look at the windows and enter the various businesses in the center.
The first dataA positive start for Confcommercio Ascom . Good but not too much, instead, according to Confesercenti Bologna . The sales, this year, began with 35 degrees and especially on Saturday. It was precisely this last aspect that worried Giancarlo Tonelli, general manager of Confcommercio Ascom, because "my fear was that many had gone to the seaside or to the mountains. Many people have already been going around the shops in the past few weeks. A sort of study in view of the discounts", says Tonelli.
A range of discounts that goes from 30 to 50% off "this allows the people of Bologna to buy clothes at super favorable prices", underlines Tonelli, according to whom even tourists "are taking advantage" of the opportunity.
We are also "looking positively" at this weekend, hoping that "the next nine days of sales, so yesterday, today and the whole of next week in mid-July will be even more satisfying than this first day". A sprint start also in the numbers: "We have planned 250 euros of spending for the sales per family , a figure that exceeds the 200 euros per family spent on average in our country".
So a Bologna that " starts off in fourth gear and is doing better than the rest of Italy". A satisfaction that means "giving a breath of fresh air to the clothing and footwear sectors, which need it more than ever in this period". Consumers are hunting for the best shirt, polo, t-shirt or Bermuda shorts, in terms of quality-price ratio.
For Loreno Rossi , director of Confesercenti , the start was “ slow ” due to the heat and the weekend. “A Saturday in line with the start of last year” which in itself “was not a great year for the fashion sector ”. The director opens a reflection: “Talking to the operators, some issues emerged to question: we need to understand if it was appropriate to start on Saturday or if another day could have been chosen. This is because in July, with this heat, many left”. The other point concerns the ban “not respected in particular by the large chains” of pre-sale promotional sales: “Whoever respects this rule is now behind the others”, comments Rossi. Adding that “ the entire clothing sector is in difficulty . If the normal season doesn’t go well, normally the summer season doesn’t go well either”. The hope is that “next week will go better”.
