Pharmacies, 4-hour strike today in Rome: employees protest over contract

From 9 to 11 a picket in front of the national headquarters of Federfarma
Today, Tuesday 1 July, pharmacies are stopping for a 4-hour strike in Rome . Employees are on a war footing for the renewal of the contract that is stuck : the protest is based on the position of Federfarma which "has confirmed the proposal of an overall salary increase of only 120 euros for the next three years", considered "inadequate and unacceptable" by the trade unions.
The strike and the picketThe strike is scheduled from 8 to 12, and from 9 to 11 a picket will take place in front of the national headquarters of Federfarma . "We offer more and more services but we have lower wages than the clerks". From here the mobilization started all over Italy, started after the breakdown of negotiations, as confirmed by a joint communication from the unions.
For the unions, Federfarma's proposal is "completely disconnected from the economic reality of the sector and from the legitimate expectations of pharmacists and private pharmacy workers who guarantee an essential service to citizens every day and the large participation in the mobilization initiatives organized at the territorial level confirm the discomfort of the workers in the sector. In the absence of a change of direction by the employers, mobilization is now the only effective tool to demand a dignified contract that is worthy of the work carried out every day in pharmacies".
The other citiesAfter Rome, on July 2nd the protest will stop in Cesena where there will be a picket in Piazza Amendola, from 1pm to 3pm. The following day, July 3rd, in Vicenza a flash mob is scheduled for 8:30pm in Piazza dei Signori. On July 4th two events are planned: in Modena, with a picket from 1:30pm in front of the Federfarma headquarters and in Belluno, with a picket at 10am in Piazza Duomo, in front of the Prefecture.
