Friuli Venezia Giulia: Zero Growth, RilanciaFriuli's Warning

WATCH THE VIDEO REPORT . A region that has been in economic hibernation for twenty years since 2002. And while GDP growth in the four-year period 2019-2023 was 3.4%, it still ranks just fifteenth among Italian regions. The picture for Friuli Venezia Giulia painted by the RilanciaFriuli Socioeconomic Observatory, which today presented the results of its quarterly report, "Why Friuli Venezia Giulia is at a standstill and how to restart," is far from encouraging. And the numbers for the last two years are even more worrying.
And the regional center-left is worried not only about the current data, but also about a future in which the 30% tariffs imposed by Trump loom on the horizon.
RilanciaFriuli's studies also highlight concerns about exports, particularly manufacturing, which fell by over €1 billion between 2023 and 2024. These figures are compounded by a labor market that is often precarious, with only 13.5% of contracts activated in 2024 being permanent, and a population decline of 58,000 since 2002, with birth rates plummeting by nearly 35%.
