5 per thousand allocated to municipalities drops, less than 15 million euros

There are fewer and fewer taxpayers Italians who choose to allocate their '5 per thousand' to municipality in which they reside. The data referred to 2024, recently released by the Ministry of the Interior and analysed by the Centro Studi Enti Locali, highlight a further contraction compared to - already modest - numbers of the past. The overall amount of the the revenue from the '5 per thousand' is equal to just under 15 million euros (14,994,577) compared to 16,017,167 euros in 2023. The 2024 data therefore confirm a now consolidated trend: local authorities remain at the bottom of the list of recipients of the '5 per thousand', largely exceeded by research institutions, voluntary associations and third sector entities.
