M - Son of the Century by Joe Wright, about the birth of fascism in Italy, a Sky Original title written by Stefano Bises and Davide Serino and based on the bestseller by Antonio Scurati with Luca Marinelli starring as Benito Mussolini, is the 'Series of the Year' 2025 for the Italian Film Journalists (SNGCI). M - Son of the Century, available exclusively on Sky and streaming only on NOW, is produced by Sky Studios and Lorenzo Mieli for The Apartment - a Fremantle group company (in collaboration with Fremantle and Cinecittà SpA), wins the Nastro d'Argento Grandi Serie. The awards ceremony will be in Naples on Saturday 31 May. Sngci also previews the Nastri d'Argento Grandi Serie, already awarded to the most 'iconic' protagonists of the last season. They are Luca Marinelli (M - The Son of the Century), Kim Rossi Stuart (The Leopard), Alba Rohrwacher (My Brilliant Friend - The Story of the Lost Child), Monica Guerritore for (Deception) and Vittoria Schisano (The Life You Wanted). In addition to these five Silver Ribbons, there will be Special Awards and recognitions for the youngest talent, but above all the Ribbons for the winning titles in the various categories and the most voted actresses and actors. As for the finalist 'quintes', there are a total of 23 titles selected to compete in the five categories (Comedy, Crime, Drama, Dramedy and TV Film) that now traditionally summarise the series broadcast on Rai and Mediaset platforms and networks.

The titles up for vote, in alphabetical order, are in 'Comedy': They killed Spider-Man - The legendary story of the 883, Imma Tataranni - Deputy Prosecutor - fourth season, Sconfort Zone, Vincenzo Malinconico, Avvocato d'insuccesso 2, Vita da Carlo - third season.

In the 'Crime' category, the top five are Acab, Avetrana - This is not Hollywood, Dostoevsky, Stucky, The bad guy - second season. In the 'Drama' category, the following are competing: Fireworks, The Leopard, My Brilliant Friend - The Story of the Lost Child, The Art of Joy and Leopardi - The Poet of Infinity.

For the 'Dramedy' the nominees are The Life You Wanted, Miss Fallaci, Story of My Family, Everything Asks for Salvation - Season 2, Everything I Have. Finally, there are three titles competing for the best 'TV Film': The Little Girl with the Suitcase, The Crazy Butterfly, These Ghosts!.

As for the finalist actors and actresses, the five nominees for the Ribbon for Best Leading Actress are Tecla Insolia (The Art of Joy), Irene Maiorino (My Brilliant Friend - The Story of the Lost Child), Benedetta Porcaroli (The Leopard), Lunetta Savino (Libera) and Vanessa Scalera (Avetrana - This Is Not Hollywood). Among the supporting actresses, Valeria Bruni Tedeschi and Jasmine Trinca (The Art of Joy), Selene Caramazza (The Bad Guy - second season), Carlotta Gamba (Dostoevsky), Maria Paiato (Life as Carlo - third season) and Anna Rita Vitolo (My Brilliant Friend - The Story of the Lost Child). Nominated among the leading actors are Luigi Lo Cascio (The Bad Guy - second season), Fabrizio Gifuni (My Brilliant Friend: The Story of the Lost Child), Leonardo Maltese (Leopardi - The Poet of Infinity), Eduardo Scarpetta (The Story of My Family) and Filippo Timi for Dostoevsky. For the supporting actors Paolo Calabresi and Francesco Colella (The Leopard), Guido Caprino (The Art of Joy), Antonio Catania (The Bad Guy - second season), Gabriel Montesi (Dostoevsky) and Fausto Russo Alesi (Leopardi - The Poet of Infinity).

The Nastri Grandi Serie are an event of the Italian Film Journalists created with the support of the MiC - Directorate General for Cinema and Audiovisual in collaboration with the Film Commission Regione Campania, "an event increasingly awaited by the world of seriality that in the Nastri d'Argento Grandi Serie found for the first time, now five years ago, a unique opportunity for visibility" underlines on behalf of the National Board the president Laura Delli Colli recalling how seriality increasingly expresses "an important declination of cinema" and how large productions have demonstrated their ability to conquer new spectators and international markets: "This is also why we accepted the invitation to award a special Nastro d'Argento dedicated to the value of international seriality - which we will announce soon - on the stage of the new 'Italian Global Series Festival' coming to Rimini and Riccione at the end of June".

"In twenty years of activity, the Film Commission has supported and supported an ever-increasing number of productions that have contributed to making our territory one of the capitals of Italian audiovisuals".

The candidate titles were selected from the Series broadcast on networks and platforms from 1 June 2024 to 31 May 2025. The selection is by the National Board of Italian Film Journalists: Laura Delli Colli (President), Fulvia Caprara (Vice President), Oscar Cosulich, Maurizio di Rienzo, Susanna Rotunno, Paolo Sommaruga, Stefania Ulivi, (Romano Milani General Secretary).
