Hangar Bicocca. Nan Goldin as a filmmaker.

From October 11th to February 15th, 2026, Pirelli HangarBicocca presents “This Will Not End Well,” the first retrospective of Nan Goldin 's work as a filmmaker. In Milan, the exhibition brings together the largest body of slideshows ever presented, includes a specially commissioned sound installation, and offers the opportunity to exhibit her two most recent slideshows in a museum setting for the first time in Europe. "I've always wanted to be a filmmaker. My slideshows are films made up of stills," says Nan Goldin. The retrospective is housed in several architectural structures, known as pavilions, designed by architect Hala Wardé, who has collaborated with Goldin on several occasions. Each pavilion is conceived in response to a specific work, and together they form a village.
