Art, history and landscapes. Sacro Monte continues to reveal its beauty

A journey through time and beauty, through history, landscapes and spirituality: the rich program of free guided tours of the Sacro Monte of Varese continues. The initiative, promoted by the Municipality of Varese and curated by Archeologistics , is part of the project "From Global to Local: rediscovery and valorization of the identity of exceptional places", supported by the Ministry of Tourism . Today the program includes a walk that will take participants from the Sacro Monte to Schiranna, on the shores of Lake Varese . A suggestive descent of about three and a half hours, reserved for trained walkers, along an itinerary that combines spirituality, nature and culture. The meeting is scheduled for 8:00 at the Sacro Monte. The walk is included in the Varese stage of "è VA con il cuore", the seventh phase of the regional project " Cuori olimpici ", which combines health, exercise and valorization of the territory. In addition to the nature trails, guided tours offer the opportunity to discover the centuries-old history of the Sacro Monte, from the Marian devotion that led to the construction of the Sanctuary and the chapels along the avenue in the 17th century, to the artistic and cultural life of the 20th century, with particular attention to the figure of Lodovico Pogliaghi , an artist who lived here and whose house can be visited today.
