"Music at the Castle": Concerts at Maschio Angioino for Summer 2025 in Naples starting July 25th.

Jazz, funk, Caribbean rhythms, and auteur theater: these are the main ingredients of "Music at the Castle," scheduled from July 25th to August 3rd in the monumental courtyard of Castel Nuovo , also known as Maschio Angioino. The initiative is promoted and funded by the Municipality of Naples for "Naples City of Music," as part of the "Summer in Naples 2025" program, and is organized by Arealive . Concerts begin every evening at 9:00 p.m. Admission is free, subject to availability.
" 'Music at the Castle,'" states Sergio Locoratolo , coordinator of cultural policies for the City of Naples, " is one of the major events in the 'Summer in Naples' program, which has been revamped this year with a strong focus on the quality of the offerings for the city and its visitors. It's a strong signal of Naples' continued investment in culture as a catalyst for community and identity. Thus, the Maschio Angioino, a monument that symbolizes our history, becomes a meeting place every evening for those who love to listen, reflect, and be captivated by sounds and narratives that speak of past and present, of roots and innovation."
" At the heart of the festival ," observes Ferdinando Tozzi , the Mayor's delegate for the music and audiovisual industries, " is the concept of contamination, which is one of the key words of 'Naples City of Music': the meeting and fusion of different genres, styles, and traditions, which create a unique sonic identity. Embracing this vision, the municipal administration continues to commit to promoting music as a universal language, capable of uniting different cultures and generations ."
The program, which embraces influences from the Mediterranean, Central America, and the international jazz scene, celebrates the variety and richness of the city's sonic and cultural characteristics: Naples is not just a place but a sound, a vibration, a story that for centuries has mingled with the voices of the world.
This is the challenge taken up by "Musica al Castello," which begins July 25th with Apulian band Après La Classe on their "Casa di Legno Tour": the Salento group brings an explosive mix of ska, reggae, rock, and Balkan rhythms to the stage. On July 26th , it's the turn of Bologna's Rumba de Bodas with their boundless journey through funk, jazz, Latin, and swing, ready to get the audience dancing with trumpet solos and lyrics about freedom. On July 27th, it's Daniele Sepe's turn with "Sepè le Mokò": the rebel saxophonist from Naples meets cinema with a live soundtrack to the cult classic "Totò le Mokò," for a jazz-inspired tribute to the city and its ability to make people laugh and think at the same time.
On July 28th , it's the turn of Milan's Calibro 35 on their "Exploration Tour": funk, psychedelic effects, and a 1970s film vibe, in a long-awaited concert since the band, after their international success, has never returned to the city. A different tone awaits on July 29th with Roy Paci on the "Live Love & Dance Tour": the Sicilian trumpeter offers cultured and popular jazz with an excellent ensemble, consisting of Jimmy Straniero on bass, Paolo Vicari on drums, and Roberto De Nittis on piano. An evening of music and lyrics is scheduled for July 30th with Gianfranco Gallo , whose "Captivo" offers a show that combines theater and singer-songwriter music, with lyrics that delve into the human soul.
On stage on July 31st , Moni Ovadia performs “Rotte Mediterranee”: a journey through Hebrew songs, Greek ballads, and tales of migration, a reminder that the Mediterranean has always been a sea of encounters, not walls . On August 1st, La Municipal performs: the Salento duo intertwines love poems and indie pop melodies in their “Dopo Tutto Questo Tempo Tour.” On August 2nd , the stage is for Salerno's A Toys Orchestra and their “Midnight Again Tour”: hypnotic rock and visceral tracks from one of the most beloved bands on the Italian alternative scene. The grand finale, on August 3rd , features Milan's Il Mago del Gelato , who will perform their irreverent jazz-funk with songs from their album “Chi è Nicola Felpieri?”.
