Travedona: Bus driver threatened and punched by student; broken nose and one-month prognosis

Travedona Monate (Varese), November 8, 2025 – A 51-year-old driver for Autolinee Varesine was attacked by a student on a school bus from Gavirate to Osmate . The attacker, an Italian man who had just turned 18, resident in Travedona Monate, was promptly identified and reported for assaulting a public official and disrupting a public service. It all began early Thursday afternoon in the forecourt of the Gavirate high school, where the driver was trying to fix a malfunctioning rear door by telephone with the repair shop.
Escalation of violenceThe boy addressed him with the exact words: " This idiot won't open the door, he doesn't want to let us on," and then threatened to "smash his face in" and "go get him with some of his friends." Unfortunately, that's what actually happened: the bus , at that point in perfect working order, began its journey. At a stop in Travedona , the boy approached the driver , slapped him, and then repeatedly punched him in the face, aided by two accomplices who held the victim back to prevent him from reacting. Some passengers and the owners of a bar intervened to help the driver.
The ambulance took the driver to the hospital in Cittiglio, where he received a 30-day prognosis for a broken nose, a lacerated lip, and a fractured metacarpal bone in his right hand. The Carabinieri quickly identified the attacker: Autolinee Varesine will join the criminal proceedings as a civil plaintiff. "We hope, " the company says, "that the unspeakable individual who committed this attack will fully pay the consequences of his actions."
