The first official statement from Ars et Labor comes exactly four weeks after Mayor Fabbri appointed the Argentine consortium represented by Juan Martin Molinari. It concerns the signing of the first-team coach, who had been known for some time but could not be announced for bureaucratic reasons. Stefano Di Benedetto has now completed his first week of training, but only since yesterday has he been able to announce to the world that he is the new Spal coach. The agreement with the white and blue club was sealed at the Hotel Duchessa Isabella, where the coach signed a one-year contract until June 30, 2026 (sporting director Mirco Antenucci also signed with him).

Mr. Di Benedetto has made a name for himself and his reputation in the youth sector, where he worked from 2012 until last season. He began his coaching career in 2012 as the head coach of Trapani's youth team, later moving to Palermo. In 2019, he coached Parma's Under-16 team with good results, before moving to the Parma Under-17 team. He returned to Palermo in 2021 and was appointed interim coach of the Rosanero first team the following season, leading them to a 3-2 Coppa Italia debut win over Reggiana. He continued that season with the Primavera 3 team, securing promotion to the Primavera 2 team after a playoff final victory over Bari. Last season, he coached Sampdoria's Primavera team until January, and is now taking the helm at SPAL.

In his white-and-blue adventure, coach Di Benedetto will be supported by three assistants: assistant Matteo Piraccini (a Spal player in the 2012-13 Serie D season), athletic trainer Damiano Ansaloni, and goalkeeping coach Simone Salatin. This afternoon, the coach will be officially presented by the club on Via Copparo, kicking off a parade that will likely involve the various players on the squad next week.

By the way, while we wait to finalize the deal for striker Michele Cesario, who will soon – barring unforeseen circumstances – join the white and blue squad, we can consider the deal done for Alessandro Prezzabile, a midfielder born in 1998 who last season played in the Eccellenza league with Athletic Club Palermo, helping them achieve promotion to Serie D. Prezzabile has also played professionally in the past, specifically for Vibonese between 2019 and 2021, and is already training with his new teammates at the Fabbri sports center.
