Aidan McCarthy has dismissed rumours suggesting that he walked away from the Clare senior hurling panel.

McCarthy was not selected in the Banner men’s matchday 26 for last Saturday’s Munster SHC defeat to Tipperary in Ennis – a defeat which leaves them on the brink of elimination from this year’s championship.

He played for Inagh-Kilnamona a couple of hours earlier instead, helping his club gain a league victory against St Joseph's Doora/Barefield.

Following Saturday's events, speculation mounted that McCarthy, who scored 1-7 in last year’s All-Ireland final win against Cork, had departed Brian Lohan’s squad.

However, the 25-year-old attacker posted on X yesterday to quash those rumours, saying that he was available to line-out for his county against Tipp “"if selected".

Just to clarify and confirm, I did not walk off the clare Senior Hurling panel.

I was willing, ready and able to line out for my county against Tipperary on Saturday evening if selected.
