Saint-Aubin: Chez Tonton unveils a 2026 season of laughter and emotion

The café-theater offers ten shows from fall to spring. A program rich in humor and shows, including comedies, one-woman shows, and concerts, all for less than 40 euros.

Nicolas and Jojo promise an "exceptional season" for their sixth edition. The café-théâtre Chez Tonton offers ten dates, from September to April 2026. In terms of style, it's "humor and emotion guaranteed" for Nicolas, who also keeps the promise of selling tickets for less than 40 euros . Based in Saint-Aubin since 2019, the couple opened this cultural venue so that "people come and see things that take their minds off things," explains Nicolas, before adding: "With Le Contrepoint, in Agen, we are only two café-théâtres in Lot-et-Garonne!" A committed choice for these entrepreneurs, who do not receive subsidies to finance their project.

The season will open with " Le Duo des non ," a witty caricature of local actors: from the priest to the crooked politician, including the nosy neighbor. To kick off the fall with music, Chez Tonton invites the public on October 11th at the Paul-Mauvezin cultural center in Fumel for " La Promesse Brel ," a concert led by Arnaud Askoy, which will "revive the magic of the era with emotion and generosity." Two one-woman shows are then planned around the holiday season in Saint-Aubin. Comedian Maud Melle lifts the taboos of pre-menopause and opens up about everyday worries in her show " J'assume ," on November 15th and 16th. The year 2026 will begin with " Mais que vont dire les voisins?" (But what will the neighbors say? ) For just over an hour, Fanfan will play a series of whimsical characters questioning the way others see them.

The café-theater has decided to expand its business by relocating some shows, such as to Fumel. This is an opportunity to fill larger venues. On February 26, Nicolas and Jojo set themselves the challenge of welcoming 1,000 spectators to the new cultural space in Bergerac, L'Étincelle , for the play " Folle du Stade Toulousain ." A comedy written and produced by Eric Carrière, a famous member of the duo Les Chevaliers du Fiel. The couple limits the relocations to a one-hour drive around Saint-Aubin, so that the shows remain accessible to their Lot-et-Garonne audience.

Some artists have become regulars at Chez Tonton, like Fabrice Blind, who is back for the fourth year. This year, the comedian will be starring in the boulevard comedy " Tu T'Laisses Aller! " on March 14 and 15. The season will end with music from the famous duo Mike & Riké, known for their hit "Tout le bonheur du monde." Their show " Souvenirs de saltimbanque ," as funny as it is moving, will be performed on April 18 at the Fumel cultural center.

Prepared a year in advance, the 2025-2026 program was notably built thanks to the artists he met at the Avignon Festival in the summer of 2024. This scouting time is essential for Nicolas, who has had his production, broadcasting, and programming licenses for almost five years. Outside of the season, Chez Tonton also hosts the café-théâtre's Off programs all year round.
