Taulant Xhaka takes a beating after his anti-FCZ chants

Taulant Xhaka let loose during FC Basel's title celebration.
Taulant Xhaka has been punished. The 34-year-old midfielder, who chanted insultingly against FC Zurich during FC Basel's title celebrations last Sunday , has been heavily sanctioned by the Swiss Football League's Disciplinary Committee.
Xhaka received a triple penalty.
It is first and foremost disciplinary: Xhaka is suspended for one match. It is also financial, with a fine of 7,500 francs. And it is also societal: the Basel player will have to perform 18 hours of community service (TIG) in support of football over the next six months.
Xhaka was only suspended for one match because his career was set to end at the end of the season. However, the single judge specified that the financial aspect and community service were there "to offset the negative impact of his public behavior," the SFL stated in its statement.
The player and his club can, however, appeal within five days.
