RN MP Franck Allisio targeted by an investigation for embezzlement of public funds

The courts have opened an investigation, following a report from the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, into the use of resources made available to the National Rally (RN), which were diverted in particular for the activities of far-right MP Franck Allisio, Agence France-Presse (AFP) learned on Wednesday, May 7, from the Marseille prosecutor's office.
"The prosecution confirms the opening of an investigation following an article 40 of the region on December 30, 2024," he told AFP, confirming information from the investigative site Marsactu . Article 40 of the Code of Criminal Procedure requires any constituted authority to report to the public prosecutor any offenses of which it becomes aware.
Asked by AFP, Franck Allisio, who is also president of the RN group on the Regional Council, said he was "very happy that there is an investigation." "It allows us to clarify, to put an end to controversies that are political," he declared, adding that he would "very likely be a candidate for mayor of Marseille" in 2026.
In November, following an investigation by Marsactu , the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region announced the opening of an internal investigation.
In this investigation, Marsactu had reported in particular the work of two of the group's collaborators, employed by the region, for the benefit of Franck Allisio's activity as a deputy, which had not been declared to the High Authority for Transparency in Public Life (HATVP). This accumulation also raises a legal question.
The investigative media also revealed the use of service vehicles provided by the community for campaign trips, in particular for leafleting or meetings as part of the campaign for the European elections in June 2024, then the early legislative elections in June and July of the same year.
