Pro D2: Brive dominates Grenoble and takes the lead, the four play-off places already known

Brive took the lead in the Pro D2 standings at the expense of Grenoble, beaten on Friday in Corrèze (38-13) during the 29th and penultimate day where Soyaux-Angoulême and Provence Rugby secured their qualification for the play-offs of the final phase.

Thanks to this bonus success (5 tries), the Brive team have scored a double victory by securing their place in the semi-finals while dethroning the former leaders Grenoble, who have suffered a fourth away defeat.

Behind this leading duo, assured of direct access to the semi-finals, we now know the four other teams qualified for the final phase: Colomiers (3rd), Provence Rugby (4th), Soyaux-Angoulême (5th) and Montauban (6th) will play in the play-offs to try to join them.

For the Charente club, this will be a historic first. Like Montauban, who defeated Béziers (42-17) the day before , Soyaux-Angoulême and Provence Rugby validated their ticket to the play-offs by beating Oyonnax (44-27) and Biarritz (46-14) respectively at home, each time with the offensive bonus. Colomiers retained its third place, synonymous with a home play-off, by beating Nice (46-19) with the offensive bonus, last and already certain to play in the National.

At the bottom of the table, Aurillac, currently in the relegation zone (15th), won at Nevers (21-20) and can still hope for direct survival before hosting Montauban on the final day. The Auvergnats are two points behind Agen (14th), beaten at Dax (10-9). The Agenais will play for their survival at home against Mont-de-Marsan (10th), who won comfortably on Friday against Valence-Romans (52-20).
