Provence Rugby enforces the hierarchy. Undefeated at Maurice-David throughout the Pro D2 season, Mauricio Reggiardo's men continued the streak this Thursday evening against the surprise of the season, Soyaux-Angoulême , 5th in the standings. Despite a detonating start from the visitors, quickly taking the lead on the scoreboard thanks to Nathan Farissier, they gradually took the lead before taking off with four tries during the first half.

On the hour mark, the Charentais got a burst of pride through Hubert Texier, who managed to slip through the middle of the Provençaux defense. But Adrien Lapegue definitively ended their hopes with a counterattack try from over 60 meters, his 20th of the season. The young 18-year-old winger Paul Cellio then increased the score, before Mathis Lafon reduced the deficit slightly.

Final score 49-22. A record number of points broken in a play-off match. Provence Rugby will face leader Grenoble in the semi-finals, a rematch of last year's 22-23 tie. The fitness of George North and Thomas Sauveterre, both of whom were injured during the match, will be closely monitored. The other semi-final will pit Brive (2nd in the regular season) against the winner of the second play-off match played Friday between Colomiers and Montauban.
