NBA star Kevin Durant becomes minority shareholder of PSG

It's hard to find a more flashy new investor. Kevin Durant, one of the star players of the NBA, the famous North American basketball league, has acquired a minority stake in Paris Saint-Germain, the club announced on Friday, June 20, announcing that it is diversifying its business strategy with him.
"NBA superstar and international entrepreneur Kevin Durant is investing in PSG alongside Qatar Sports Investment (QSI)," the European champion club wrote in a statement. This agreement "opens the way for innovative collaborations in the areas of derivative products and media content," PSG continued, referring to the development of its "commercial growth, particularly in the American and international markets" through this partnership.
Durant, 36, a two-time NBA champion with the Golden State Warriors (2017, 2018) and four-time Olympic champion with the United States, is taking a stake in PSG via his media and investment company Boardroom.
"Future projects in the field of basketball"He must also bring "his expertise on the multi-sport strategy of Paris Saint-Germain, in particular concerning future projects in the field of basketball," added the club, which was approached by the NBA for the development of an NBA Europe.
PSG has not provided any information on the size of Kevin Durant's investment in its shareholder base. The club "has big plans and I look forward to participating in the next phase of growth and exploring new investment opportunities with QSI," Kevin Durant said in the same statement.
PSG are currently competing in the Club World Cup in the United States. After a 4-0 victory over Atlético Madrid, Luis Enrique's men lost 1-0 to Brazilian side Botafogo on Thursday night. On Monday, Paris Saint-Germain will play for their place in the last 16 of the competition against Seattle.
