Marseille-Angers player ratings: Vaz and Chérif, youth in power
What a spectacular entrance! Four days after a disastrous performance in Lens, he turned the game around, replacing MURILLO. (3) at halftime, bringing a welcome burst of energy. He first met a pinpoint cross from Aubameyang with his right foot (52nd minute), following a lightning-fast OM counter-attack, to equalize. After a little dance to celebrate, he tried to win a penalty like a wily veteran (63rd minute). The best part? An exceptional sequence of play: controlling the ball in front of the box, accelerating with incredible footwork, beating Ekomié with a feint, and then firing past Koffi with his right foot (70th minute).
Starting in place of the injured Peter, the 18-year-old academy graduate scored his third goal in three matches, first beating Aguerd in a one-on-one duel and then slotting the ball past Rulli with a vicious shot (25th minute). A well-deserved reward for his energetic start (5th, 13th, 29th minutes). He also contributed defensively (2 recoveries). Substituted by MACHINE (59th minute).
Like his central defensive partner Lefort, he didn't have time to return from the attacking corner on the equalizer (52nd minute) and his team can regret it, but can they really blame him after that equalizer at 2-2 snatched at the end of added time, by throwing himself in the opposing box (90th+6)?
Making his first start in nearly a month, the natural right-back acquitted himself well as a left midfielder. His early yellow card (3rd minute) could have slowed him down, but he didn't hesitate to work hard: one of his excellent passes led to the opening goal (25th minute), he won back possession six times, and won five of his nine duels. He was replaced by Sbaï (59th minute), who was instrumental in the equalizer to make it 2-2 (90+6).
He brought power and dynamism after coming on at halftime, replacing Vermeeren (4) , who had been too passive and withdrawn. He orchestrated the attack, finding Aubameyang on the thunderous counter-attack that led to the equalizer (52nd minute), and subsequently distinguished himself with direct, intense play, piercing an Angers side that was sometimes disorganized, drawn to Marseille's goal. He even managed to get under Abdelli's skin.

It had been a long time since the Panamanian, the player who had improved the most under De Zerbi, had disappointed us so much. Careless mistakes, haphazard defensive positioning, a glaring lack of communication with Egan-Riley (3), who looked quite clumsy. A few flashes of brilliance in attack, with a cross blocked by Koffi (12th minute). A squandered transition (10th minute), a ball given away too quickly (36th minute). De Zerbi switched off the lights at halftime.
Lightweight. Too lightweight. A weak shot after a poor first touch, which was all too easy for Koffi (15th minute). Balls given away too easily to the opposition, as in the 42nd minute. No impact on the opposing midfield. Quickly replaced by Pavard (4) at halftime, who was involved in the build-up to the 1-1 goal, before being outmaneuvered by Sbaï for Angers' equalizer.
After a fairly controlled first half against Paixao, the Haitian international found himself more or less directly involved in both of Vaz's goals. He was unmarked but just short of connecting with Aubameyang's cross for the first (52nd minute) and gave the ball away too easily for the second (70th minute). Substituted by Courcoul (80th minute).
