Growing practice, suitable clothing, cycling influencers: women cyclists are getting into the saddle

The sequence, which dates back to 1987, sticks to Marc Madiot 's heels. Invited onto the Antenne 2 set, the then cyclist shamelessly declaims, in front of the figure of women's cycling Jeannie Longo and under looks as amused as they are complicit: "There are sports that are masculine, there are some that are feminine. Seeing a woman dance is very pretty, seeing a woman play football is ugly, seeing a woman on a bike is ugly. […] Cycling is an extremely difficult sport, and I love women too much to see them suffer ." The current general manager of the Groupama-FDJ team has since apologized for comments that we would no longer imagine hearing today. Especially since, forty years later, women are well and truly in the saddle. Whether amateur or professional, they are increasingly numerous to ride the roads and passes of France.
