Formula E extended for 10 years

The FIA and Formula E have just signed a ten-year agreement, extending the championship until 2048 and confirming the meteoric rise of electric motorsport. The agreement demonstrates the confidence placed in this sport, which has gradually found its audience in the face of traditional powertrains, attracting prestigious manufacturers and international audiences.

Since 2014, Formula E has seen steady growth of 20% per year, attracting 400 million fans worldwide, according to its promoter. The new GEN3 Evo cars offer remarkable performance, with a 0-100 km/h time of 1.82 seconds, surpassing current F1 cars by 30%.

Prestigious manufacturers support

The series is supported by prestigious manufacturers such as Porsche, Jaguar, Nissan, Maserati, Stellantis, Mahindra, and Lola-Yamaha. It remains the only all-electric single-seater series to compete at the highest global level. The championship takes place in prestigious cities such as Monaco, Tokyo, London, Shanghai, and Miami. This urban strategy sets Formula E apart from other disciplines by bringing the competition closer to the general public.

The deal comes at a time of opportunity: electric vehicles are expected to account for more than 40% of global sales by 2030, while lithium-ion battery production is expected to triple over the same period. "This is the motorsport of the future, a championship that combines the latest technologies, head-to-head racing, and a truly meaningful mission," said Mike Fries, CEO of Liberty Global.

The extension to 2048 allows the series to develop its technological innovations, particularly in the fields of batteries and energy efficiency. A life-size laboratory that directly influences the evolution of production electric vehicles.

In Monaco, Formula E has found a prime location since its introduction in 2015, to the point that a second day of racing was added to the program this year, 2025. A formula that won over the public with full and enthusiastic stands to witness the victory of Oliver Rowland, who has since been crowned world champion for this season 11.
