Eric Boyer was then a name in the peloton, a very good rider, one of the best in the world, a French big shot. In 1988, the climber from Essonne finished 5th in the Tour de France , under the orders of Cyrille Guimard, thus placing himself in the landscape, with Bernard Hinault above and Laurent Fignon not far behind.
