A new stadium to replace Mayol in Toulon, what do you think?

A few hours before the clash against Toulouse at the Vélodrome, the president of the Toulon Rugby Club, Bernard Lemaître, dropped a little bombshell in our columns.

"For its future and to continue to exist, the RCT needs another stadium capable of welcoming spectators in a more comfortable, more secure way and producing more income."

These strong statements are no coincidence. A safety audit has indeed been requested from the City, owner of the sports venue, to verify that the historic Rouge et Noir stadium can withstand a new modernization project. Except that nothing could be less certain, according to the business leader.

"The structures are what they have been since the 1930s. If necessary, we should launch the idea of a new stadium in Toulon. It's the construction site of the future."

By saying these "strong words" , Bernard Lemaître no doubt suspected that he would provoke numerous reactions. And you, what do you think? Do you believe, like him, that the Mayol stadium is no longer suited to the requirements of welcoming the public in the 21st century? Do we need a larger and more comfortable stadium for the RCT? If so, due to a lack of available land in the city center, could it be relocated outside Toulon?

The idea, already raised several times in the past, met with fierce opposition from supporters. Have attitudes changed? It's up to you to tell us!
