“The “socio” movement is the construction of an alternative to football business”

The movement is still tentative, but it's growing. In recent years, several French supporters' associations have acquired stakes in their favorite football clubs. In Guingamp, Sochaux, and perhaps soon Saint-Etienne, they hope to influence the life and direction of their owners. They hope to put a grassroots dimension back at the heart of an activity that generates ever-increasing sums. Four of them tell Libération about their decision.
"I had distanced myself from the club since the sale by Peugeot in 2014. During the years under Chinese ownership, I was no longer a season ticket holder, I no longer went to the stadium, and I had ended up losing interest in FC Sochaux-Montbéliard because of management errors. The club's last-minute rescue in the summer of 2023 was a turning point. That's when I got involved. I wanted to be able to participate in saving a club.
