Wissembourg. They demonstrated in Weiler to defend freedom of movement in Europe.
On Saturday, August 23, alongside the laying of a commemorative plaque in memory of the student demonstration of August 6, 1950, which led to the removal of the border post between Weiler and St. Germanshof, a procession of around forty people peacefully joined the assembly, demanding the preservation of the free movement of people within the European Union.
This Saturday, August 23, several elected officials from the City of Wissembourg and members of the Via Democratia Europa association will meet at 2 p.m. in front of the memorial to the student demonstration of August 6, 1950, which led to the abolition of the Weiler and St. Germanshof border crossing, to unveil a commemorative plaque in memory of the event.
