Account X, discreetly acquired in 2024 by billionaire tax exile Pierre-Édouard Stérin, is shifting its editorial stance to the hard right. According to La Lettre, the new boss explicitly requests that "information from the newspaper L'Humanité not be cited ."
Have you heard of Cerfia? This big account on X (formerly Twitter) , whose business plan consists of plundering information produced by others and monetizing it on Elon Musk's social network or elsewhere... Last year, it was quietly acquired by billionaire Pierre-Édouard Stérin. And we can see it: after his failures in traditional media, the architect and financier of Pericles, this plan aimed at making the extreme right win in people's minds and at the ballot box, is influencing the editorial line.
According to a document revealed by La Lettre in recent days, Benjamin Fayet, the new head of Cerfia – former editor-in-chief of the confidential, ultra-reactionary “anti-modern” magazine Philitt and for a time a journalist in several media outlets linked to Stérin, such as Factuel and Neo – gave eloquent instructions: highlight the ranking of French business angels (in which Stérin always figures at the top of the podium), praise conversions to Catholicism, highlight Cyril Hanouna’s good audiences… And – this is where it concerns us first and foremost, according to our colleagues – “not to cite information from the communist newspaper L’Humanité”.
It's true that, since the publication of the Périclès plan by L'Humanité in July 2024, our information can be quite upsetting for the billionaire tax exile... Especially since by bringing him out of hiding and listing his activities in the political or philanthropic field, they are undeniably of public interest: we saw this all summer when dozens of associations and municipalities left "Les Plus Belles Fêtes de France", having learned in our columns that this label was controlled by a company in which BAD 21, the historic holding company of Stérin in Belgium, has been a shareholder since last May .
From the Basque Country to the North and Alsace, via Brittany, Normandy, Auvergne and the Alps, denunciations of this imbroglio animated the columns of the regional daily press for weeks... Until Stéphane Bern who, after having lent his face in a video to what has become the "Stérin label", flew into a cold rage in Le Canard enchaîné , regretting having been used "in the service of a very politicized and very marked character".
It's step by step, argument against argument, that we must fight the extreme right. And that's what we do every day in L'Humanité.
In the face of relentless attacks from racists and hatemongers: support us! Together, let's make another voice heard in this increasingly nauseating public debate. I want to know more.
